My name is Katie Billingsley. I was born and raised in Arkansas, and at 20 years old I met my husband, Keenan. I’ve been following him around ever since, moving from state to state, because he is in the U.S. Navy. We are currently stationed in Oahu, HI and will soon be moving back to the mainland. We arrive in Austin, TX September 2nd and I'm peeing my pants I'm so excited.
I graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in May of 2009 with a BBA in General Business Management. Since we move so often, my career has kind of been put on hold. But now, with the light at the end of the tunnel appearing, I have been able to decide which direction I want to go with my life and career.
I’m constantly reading books on my nook, (the thing has become permanently attached to me), and looking for new and interesting movies to watch, but music is my life. I have always been deeply passionate about music. Though I have tried to play instruments and failed horribly, I always feel my best when I’m surrounded by anything that has to do with music. I’ve finally figured out what I want to do with my life, so I worked my ass off and earned myself a Masters of Science in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University.
My plan is to use my knowledge of general business to help me develop knowledge of the entertainment and music business. I would like to work in promotions of concerts, festivals, etc.
In the meantime of waiting to move, I began an internship with a local marketing and PR firm, Under My Umbrella (UMU) which turned out to be a year long learning experience for me. I have loved every second of my time at UMU and so glad that I was taught so much by the group.
